Bot 11th: Brad Ausmus blocked the plate, saving a run!

Manny Ramirez hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI at Edison Int'l Field as
the Cleveland Indians beat the Anaheim Angels in 12 innings 11 to 8.

The score was tied at 6 after nine. Cleveland ended up winning it in the 12th
inning. Brad Ausmus led off and started the rally when he smacked a single.
Kenny Lofton stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Omar Vizquel then
laid down a sacrifice bunt. Jim Thome was up next and he hit a deep fly
resulting in a run. Ramirez came to the plate and bombed a two-run dinger
(his 1st of the season). A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead
change 5 times.

The victory was credited to Armando Benitez(1-0) who went 2 innings, allowing
1 run. Trevor Hoffman(0-1) was the loser in relief. He pitched 3 innings
allowing 4 hits and 1 walk.

WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: Deivi Cruz robbed Omar Vizquel of a base hit.

In a dramatic ending the Anaheim Angels staged a comeback and held on to win
over the Cleveland Indians by the count of 7 to 5.

Anaheim scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning scoring 3 runs. Troy
Glaus led off and he drew a walk. Roosevelt Brown dug into the batters box
next, but he struck out. Deivi Cruz then laced a base-hit. Darin Erstad
came up and he drew a walk to load the bases. Ivan Rodriguez stepped into
the box and drew a walk which scored a run. Sean Casey followed, but he was
set down on strikes. Mo Vaughn was next and he drew a walk plating another
run. Tim Salmon then drew a walk scoring the final run of the inning.
Anaheim rapped out 7 hits for the night.

The win went to Kelly Wunsch(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Hipolito Pichardo earned his 1st save. Armando Benitez(1-1) was tagged with
the loss in relief.

Blaise Castren was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'

WEB GEMS- Bot 5th: Troy Glaus robbed Omar Vizquel of a base hit.

First baseman Garret Anderson had 2 base hits at The Ballpark as the Anaheim
Angels won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Cleveland Indians by
the count of 4 to 3.

Anaheim came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
with 3 runs using 3 hits. Anderson led off and keyed the rally when he
banged out a single. Troy Glaus stepped up next and he smashed a two-run
homer (his 1st of the season). Two outs later Tim Salmon came up and he
ripped a solo home run (his 1st of the season). Trevor Hoffman was perfect
in the ninth giving him his 1st save on the season.

The win was credited to Hipolito Pichardo(1-0) who went 2/3 of an inning
allowing no runs. The loss was charged to Todd Jones(0-1) in relief.

OPEN was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in the mood
for questions, but I'm sure Blaise Castren will be glad to talk about the
game as long as you have questions to ask.'

back in the 9th but they came up short.

Armando Benitez gained credit for his 1st save. Frank Castillo(0-1) was the
