Randy Johnson whiffed 10 batters as the Arizona club outscored the Atlanta
Braves 4 to 3.

Johnson(3-0) pitched a fine game. He was reached for 9 hits and 1 walk in 7
innings. Arizona banged out 8 on the night.

Johnson got help from Jose Jimenez who earned his 4th save. Scott
Strickland(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief. Johnson was asked about
his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up
these numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the
stands, everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice
to be able to take the crowd out of the game.'

Randy Johnson dominated striking out 11 Atlanta batters as the Arizona team
topped the Atlanta Braves by a score of 7 to 4 at Jacobs Field.

Johnson(4-0) had a solid outing for Arizona. He went 7 innings surrendering 7
hits and 3 walks. Johnson got relief help from Jose Jimenez who was
excellent in relief and gained credit for his 6th save.

Jon Lieber(1-1) suffered the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 8 and 2/3
innings. Johnson was asked about his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's
a little odd when you rack up these numbers on the road - instead of cheers
and a running tally in the stands, everything gets real still and quiet.
Just strange - but it's nice to be able to take the crowd out of the game.'
