Right fielder Juan Gonzalez cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Camden Yards
where the seemingly unstoppable Seattle Mariners beat the Oakland A's by the
score of 3 to 2.

Gonzalez helped send the fans home happy.  He blasted a two-run home run in
the 1st inning and ripping a solo home run (his 5th of the season) in the 6th
inning.  Kazuhiro Sasaki was perfect in relief and got the save, his 3rd.

John Burkett(2-0) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Mark
Mulder(1-2) was hit with the loss.  He pitched 7 innings giving up 9 hits and
no walks.

The red-hot Seattle Mariners toppled the Oakland A's by a 6 to 2 score at
SAFECO Field.

Seattle promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they tallied 2
runs on 3 hits.  The big moment was provided by Alex Rodriguez who helped
quiet the crowd when he smashed a two-run homer (his 3rd of the season).
Seattle out-hit Oakland for the game, 11 hits to 8.  

The win was credited to Jamie Moyer(2-1) who went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 2
runs. Steve W. Sparks(1-1) was the losing pitcher.  He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Lidle(1-0) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Oakland
hitters.  He allowed just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA to
3.93.  Seattle had 15 hits for the night.  

Randy Wolf(0-1) was charged with the loss.  'Lidle took our guys to school'
Ray Martin said. 'Too bad he doesn't pitch for us - it would make my job a
whole lot easier!'
