WEB GEMS- Top 1st: Melvin Mora robbed Lance Berkman of a Homerun!

One run was the difference at Bank One Ballpark as the St. Louis Cardinals
defeated the Houston Astros 3 to 2.

Hideo Nomo(2-0) delivered a fine performance for St. Louis. He allowed 7 hits
and 8 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.00 to 2.70. The
pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score
again.

Troy Percival got the save, his 2nd. Brian Anderson(0-2) was tagged with the
loss. 'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even
without his best stuff,' John Helmbrecht said after the game. 'Nomo did not
have command of his pitches most of the night, but he proved he really knew
how to pitch!'
