First baseman Ben Broussard blasted 2 homeruns and had 7 RBI at Miller Park as
the Pittsburgh Pirates belted the Philadelphia Phillies by the count of 11 to
1.

Broussard was spectacular at the plate. He laced a one-base hit plating two
runs in the 1st inning, laced a base-hit plating a run in the 3rd inning,
delivered a solo blast in the 7th inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly'
(his 3rd of the season) in the 8th inning. For the game Pittsburgh out-hit
Philadelphia 14 to 6.

Kris Benson(1-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Freddy Garcia(0-1)
was the losing pitcher. He was unable to control the Pittsburgh offense and
allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.

'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Broussard said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and
not do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by
game, and pitch by pitch.'
