One run was the difference at Fenway Park as the Atlanta Braves defeated the
Florida Marlins 3 to 2.

Rich Harden(1-0) gave Atlanta a solid outing.  He went 7 and 2/3 innings
surrendering 6 hits and 7 walks.  Florida made it exciting in the 9th, but
they were unable to push the needed runs across.  

Harden got help from Shingo Takatsu who earned his 1st save.  Jon Garland(0-1)
was given the loss.  He gave up 3 runs and 8 hits in 5 innings.

The Florida Marlins nipped the Atlanta Braves in 12 innings 4 to 3 at Fenway
Park in a hard fought contest.

The score was tied at 3 after nine.  Florida was victorious in the 12th
inning.  Eric Young drew a walk.  Luis Castillo followed and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Rocco Baldelli then hit a single resulting in a mighty
exciting win for Florida and the 37,360 home town fans in attendance.
Florida totaled 11 hits on the night.  

Rheal Cormier(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing
no runs. Mike Stanton(0-1) was the loser in relief.

In a lop-sided win the Atlanta Braves ripped the Florida Marlins by a 10 to 3
count.

Florida was unable to recover after Atlanta went ahead in the bottom of the
4th inning scoring 3 runs using 4 hits.  After an out was recorded, Andruw
Jones started the attack as he doubled.  Jorge Posada stepped into the
batter's box and he hit a single.  A.J. Burnett then unleashed a wild pitch.
After another out, Michael Tucker stepped in and he tripled.  Ray Durham came
to the plate and ripped a base-knock.  Atlanta had 13 hits for the game and
Florida had 8.  

The win went to John Lackey(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
Burnett(0-1) was the loser.  He allowed Atlanta 9 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings
of work.

Thomson completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Atlanta

Field.

Jorge Posada lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI as the Atlanta
Braves topped the Florida Marlins in 11 innings by a score of 6 to 5 at
Fenway Park.

The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings.  Atlanta came out on top in the
11th inning.  Ray Durham cracked a solo homerun (his 1st of the season).
Mike Lamb struck out, unable to help the rally.  One out later, Derek Jeter
stepped in and he lined a one-base hit.  Chipper Jones followed and he
stroked a base-hit.  Atlanta finished with 12 hits in the victory.  

The winning pitcher was Glendon Rusch(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings.
Rusch got help from Shingo Takatsu who earned his 2nd save.  Rheal
Cormier(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.
