Manny Ramirez rocketed 2 homeruns as the Cleveland Indians won a dandy at The
Ballpark over the Toronto ballclub, 13 to 12.

Cleveland won the game with a run in the 9th inning. After an out was
recorded, Brian McCann slapped a base-hit. Omar Vizquel stepped up next and
he doubled making Cleveland the victor and beginning a joyous home town
celebration. Cleveland lit up the scoreboard in the 3rd inning with 10 runs
on 11 hits. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings
was still not enough for Toronto to come away with the victory.

The win went to Bob Howry(2-0) who allowed 3 runs in 1/3 of an inning. Chris
Hammond(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief. 'It's just about getting
in a good hitting position and just going out there and being prepared,'
Ramirez said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not do too much. I
just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game, and pitch by
pitch.'

John Patterson racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts at Enron Field
as the Cleveland Indians belted the Toronto club by the count of 10 to
0.

The Toronto fans didn't appreciate the big day Geoff Jenkins had. He
delivered a one-base hit in the 2nd inning and launched a rocket-shot out of
the park for a Grand Slam homerun (his 3rd of the season) in the 6th inning.
For the game Cleveland out-hit Toronto 11 to 6.

Patterson(1-0) allowed no runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory. Ted
Lilly(0-1) ended up with the loss. Patterson was asked about his big
strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these
numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands,
everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be
able to take the crowd out of the game.'
