Johan Santana struck out 11 batters as the Minnesota Twins outscored the
Philadelphia Phillies 4 to 1.

Santana(2-0) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Philadelphia offense.
He gave up just 6 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 2.57 to
1.13. Minnesota managed 12 hits in their victory.

Freddy Garcia(1-1) ended up with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits
and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance
of Santana - except Philadelphia. Rick Cornell lamented, 'He just was 'on'
tonight. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a
good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans -
unfortunately we were the visitors!'
