Jason Bay had 4 hits and 3 RBI at The Ballpark where the Cleveland Indians
beat the Kansas City Royals 9 to 5.
Bay provided much of the offense. He hit a single in the 1st inning, lined a
one-base hit which scored a run in the 2nd inning, stroked a base-hit in the
5th inning and smashed a two-run homer (his 2nd of the season) in the 8th
inning. Cleveland managed 14 hits in their victory.
John Patterson(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and
allowing 4 runs. Dan Haren(0-2) suffered the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 12 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

pitching duel at The Ballpark. The Cleveland Indians eventually emerged as
victors over the Kansas City Royals by the score of 3 to 1.
Colon delivered a fine performance for Cleveland. He went 7 innings
surrendering 3 hits and 3 walks lowering his ERA from 7.71 to 4.50. Kansas
City threatened in the 9th but Cleveland was able to put down the rally.

Michael Young had 2 base hits at Kauffman Stadium as the Kansas City Royals
beat the Cleveland Indians 6 to 5.
Cleveland never recovered after Kansas City took the lead in the 5th inning
with 2 runs on 3 hits. Wes Helms led off and started the attack as he
smacked a single. Young came to the plate and delivered a base-hit. Matt
Lecroy then stroked a single to load the bases. Magglio Ordonez came up and
he drew a walk. Jamey Carroll was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.
John Rodriguez was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Carlos
Beltran stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk. Cleveland
threatened in the 9th but Kansas City was able to put down the rally.
Paul Byrd(2-1) allowed 4 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Huston
Street recorded his 4th save. Kenny Rogers(0-2) was hit with the loss. He
gave up 6 runs in 4 innings of work.

over after the 1st inning as neither team was able to score again.

from Huston Street who was credited with his 5th save. Mark Prior(1-1) was
the loser.

Kansas City Royals broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out a 3
to 2 win over the Cleveland Indians and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.
The game was won by Kansas City with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Magglio Ordonez lined a single. Wes Helms dug into the batters box next, but
he struck out. Carlos Beltran then lined a base-hit. Brady Clark was up
next and he banged out a single giving Kansas City the win much to the
delight of the home town crowd. Kansas City had a total of 8 hits for the
game.
Dustin Hermanson(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2/3 of an
inning. Aaron Fultz(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He allowed 2 hits
and 1 walk in 1 and 1/3 innings.
