In a game for the baseball purist, Noah Lowry(1-0) and Dan Haren(1-3) squared
off in a tense pitching duel, Florida Marlins finally emerged victorious over
Kansas City Royals, 3 to 1.

Florida did all of it's offensive work in the 2nd inning when they scored 3
runs on 3 hits. That early scoring was all that Lowry needed. After the 3rd
inning, neither team was able to score.

Scott Schoeneweis earned his 2nd save. 'I always am most impressed when a
pitcher finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Rich Florio said
after the game. 'Lowry did not have command of his pitches most of the
night, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'

as the Florida Marlins beat the Kansas City Royals by a score of 6 to 1.

Lee led the offense for Florida. He rifled a three-run blast in the 3rd
inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 4th of the season) in the 5th
inning. Florida finished with 11 hits in the victory.

Peavy(3-0) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Chris Capuano(2-2)
was given the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 5 and 1/3 innings
of work.

Peavy was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt pretty
confident in my pitches tonight. But, I had great support behind me and I
just threw what was called. That was an extremely well called game!'
