Roy Oswalt(1-0), with relief help from Francisco Rodriguez, handcuffed the St.
Louis Cardinals batters at Bank One Ballpark in a 11 inning evening game.
The Seattle Mariners scored 1 runs for the win.

No runners had crossed home plate after the regulation nine.  Finally, Seattle
pulled the game out in the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Yadier
Molina stroked a base-hit.  Jason Giambi followed and he banged out a single.
One out later, Elijah Dukes came to bat and hit a single.  Seattle rapped
out 8 hits for the night.  

Rodriguez gained credit for his 1st save. Jonathan Broxton(0-1) was the loser
in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk.

Delmon Young hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals topped the
Seattle Mariners by a score of 11 to 7 at Bank One Ballpark.

hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Melvin Mora who made the crowd
happy when he belted a three-run homer.  Overall St. Louis out-hit Seattle 11
to 8.  

The victory was credited to Ubaldo Jimenez(1-0) who went 5 innings, allowing 6
runs. Jon Lester(0-1) was the losing pitcher.  He gave up 7 runs in 4 innings

The St. Louis Cardinals nipped the Seattle Mariners 4 to 3 at Camden Yards in
a hard fought contest.

Gil Meche(1-0) was solid if not spectacular.  He was reached for 7 hits and 5
walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.  Meche racked up 7 strikeouts and gave up 2
homeruns.  Seattle out-hit St. Louis 10 to 7, but St. Louis ended up with
more runs.  

Meche got help from B.J. Ryan who earned his 1st save.  The loss was charged
to Felix Hernandez(0-1).  He gave up 5 hits and 5 walks in 6 innings.  

'He gutted it out' John Helmbrecht said of Meche.  'I was very impressed by
his tenacity.'

Adam Laroche rocketed 2 homeruns as the St. Louis Cardinals topped the Seattle

Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings.  St. Louis won it in
the 13th inning.  After an out was recorded, Laroche ripped a solo home run.
Paul Konerko stepped into the batter's box and he delivered a base-hit.  St.
Louis banged out 10 hits on the night.  

The victory went to Brian Tallet(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
B.J. Ryan was credited with his 2nd save.  Russ Springer(0-1) ended up with

The Seattle Mariners nipped the St. Louis Cardinals 6 to 5 at Camden Yards in
a hard fought contest.

The Seattle fans enjoyed the offense provided by Carlos Quentin.  He singled
in the 3rd inning and launched a Grand Slam homerun in the 6th inning.
Francisco Rodriguez earned the save with a perfect ninth, his 2nd save.

Jon Lester(1-1) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Ubaldo
Jimenez(1-1) was the losing pitcher.  He was unable to control the Seattle
offense and allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

First baseman Albert Pujols had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Seattle Mariners
defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in 12 innings by the score of 5 to 3 at Bank
One Ballpark.

The score was tied at 3 after nine.  Seattle was victorious in the 12th
inning.  Elijah Dukes led off and started the rally when he doubled.  Pujols
stepped up next and he ripped a one-base hit.  Pujols took second on the
throw.  Alex Rodriguez was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.  Ryan
Braun followed and he was walked intentionally.  One out later, Yadier Molina
stepped up to the plate and he lined a base-hit.  Brandon Phillips followed,
but he was set down on strikes.  For the game Seattle out-hit St. Louis 14 to
9.  

The victory went to Jerry Blevins(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Kevin Gregg recorded the save, his 1st.  B.J. Ryan(0-1) took the loss in
relief.  He gave up 2 runs and 3 hits in 2 and 2/3 innings.

Mike Cameron left the yard and had 3 RBI at Bank One Ballpark as the Seattle
Mariners, running on all cylinders, ripped the St. Louis Cardinals by a large
15 to 1 margin.

Cameron had a big day with his bat.  He doubled in the 2nd inning and lofted a
three-run bomb in the 4th inning.  Seattle bats were very productive in the
4th inning with 7 runs on 6 hits and the 6th inning when they had 4 runs on 4
hits.  Seattle finished with 17 hits while St. Louis ended up with 5.  

The victory went to Roy Oswalt(2-0) who went 6 innings, allowing 1 run. Cliff
Lee(0-1) was given the loss.  Seattle scored big getting 8 runs off him in 3
and 2/3 innings.
