Diamondbacks by a score of 5 to 0 at PNC Park.

Ryan Dempster(1-0) gave a fine effort for Cleveland.  He went 6 innings
allowing 3 hits and 2 walks.  Dempster chalked up 9 strikeouts.  For the game
Cleveland out-hit Arizona 8 to 5.  

Brad Bergesen(0-1) absorbed the loss. He pitched 6 innings and surrendered 5
hits and 2 walks.

Dustin Pedroia slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI and Randy Wells went the
distance as the Arizona Diamondbacks topped the Cleveland Indians by a score
of 7 to 6 at PNC Park.

Arizona scored 3 runs in the decisive bottom of the 6th inning when they came
up with 4 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Carlos Pena started the
attack as he doubled.  After another out, Wells stepped in and he stroked a
single.  Shane Victorino then banged out a single.  Dustin Nippert then threw
a high and inside pitch that got by the catcher; it was ruled a passed ball.
Martin Prado stepped into the box and delivered a single.  Cleveland tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.  

Wells(1-0) lasted until the end allowing 6 runs for the win. Jarrod
Washburn(0-1) took the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in
5 and 1/3 innings.

Carlos Pena ripped 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Ameriquest Field as the Arizona
Diamondbacks beat the Cleveland Indians by the count of 8 to 2.

Pena enjoyed a big evening at the plate.  He lost the ball over the fence for
three runs in the 4th inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 6th inning and
stroked a single in the 9th inning.  Arizona had 11 hits for the night.

The win went to Jered Weaver*(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Scott
Baker(0-1) was the loser.  He was unable to control the Arizona offense and
allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.  

'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Pena said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'

Yunel Escobar slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Arizona Diamondbacks
defeated the Cleveland Indians by the score of 7 to 2 at Ameriquest
Field.

Cleveland was unable to claim the lead after Arizona went ahead in the top of
the 2nd inning scoring one runner on 2 hits.  After an out was recorded, Adam
Jones smashed a solo-shot out of the park.  One out later, A.J. Pierzynski
came to the plate and drew a walk.  Martin Prado then doubled.  Oscar Salazar
stepped in and he was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Shane
Victorino got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.
Arizona ended up with 12 hits for the game while Cleveland had 9.  

The victory was credited to Dallas Braden(1-0) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Ryan Dempster(1-1) was hit with the loss.  He allowed a few
too many baserunners giving up 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Martin Prado left the yard and had 2 RBI as the Arizona Diamondbacks won at
PNC Park in dramatic fashion over the Cleveland Indians, the final score, 7
to 6.

The game was won by Arizona with a run in the 9th inning.  Shane Victorino
doubled.  After an out was recorded, Dustin Pedroia came up and he ripped a
base-hit making Arizona the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.
Both teams ended up with 11 hits on the night.  

The win was credited to Jose Valverde(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. The loss was charged to Sean White(0-1) in relief.
