In a game for the baseball purist, Roy Oswalt(1-0) and Andy Pettitte(0-1)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Seattle Mariners finally emerged
victorious over New York Yankees, 2 to 0.

New York was unable to climb back into it after Seattle went ahead for good in
the top of the 2nd inning plating one baserunner on 2 hits. That was all the
offense they were to need. New York proved to be no trouble in the bottom of
the 9th.

Oswalt got help from Trevor Hoffman who was credited with his 2nd save.
