First baseman Freddie Freeman slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI at Turner Field
as the Houston Astros beat the Oakland A's 3 to 1.

Houston scored 2 runs in the top of the 4th inning when they had 4 base hits.
Jacoby Ellsbury led off and keyed the rally when he stroked a single.
Ellsbury got a great jump and stole second easily.  Freeman then lined a
single.  Mike Napoli followed and he grounded into a double play.  Mike
Stanton stepped into the box and doubled.  Josh Hamilton did his part to keep
things going and was walked intentionally.  Mark Reynolds stepped up next and
he laced a base-hit.  Oakland threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.  

The win went to Clayton Kershaw(1-0) who allowed no runs in 8 innings. Kershaw
got help from Ryan Madson who was credited with his 1st save.  Tim
Hudson(0-1) took the loss.  He surrendered 3 runs and 7 hits in 5 innings.
