Josh Willingham knocked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Jon Niese blanked Houston
allowing just 2 hits as the Oakland A's bested the Houston Astros 9 to 0 at
Turner Field.

Willingham had a great evening at the plate.  He doubled in the 1st inning,
smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 4th inning, smashed a solo-shot out of
the park in the 5th inning and doubled which was good for two runs in the 6th
inning.  Oakland had a total of 12 hits for the game.  

Niese(1-0) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Clayton
Kershaw(0-1) was given the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 9 hits and 3
walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.  

'Our guys just weren't seeing the ball tonight.' Jeff Miller said.  'Niese
simply dominated us.'

Homer Bailey went 8 strong innings as the Houston Astros bested the Oakland
A's 3 to 1 at Turner Field.

Bailey(1-0) was very good in the win.  He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 4 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings.  Bailey chalked up 9 strikeouts.
Houston had just 5 hits for the afternoon.  

Ernesto Frieri preserved the game for Bailey, recording his his 1st save.  Tim
Hudson(0-1) was the loser.  He allowed 5 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.

First baseman Kendrys Morales rocketed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Oakland
A's defeated the Houston Astros in 11 innings 10 to 8 at US Cellular
Field.

The score was tied at 8 after nine.  Oakland came out the victor in the 11th
inning.  Austin Jackson opened up the inning nicely when he drew a walk.
Jimmy Rollins next to the plate and he drew a walk.  A.J. Ellis then laid
down a sacrifice bunt.  Matt Kemp followed and he tripled.  Jonathan Herrera
struck out, unable to help the rally.  Oakland totaled 14 hits on the night.

The winning pitcher was Jake McGee(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings.
Steve Cishek recorded his 1st save.  Ronald Belisario(0-1) was hit with the
loss in relief.  He gave up 2 runs and 2 hits in 2 and 1/3 innings.  

'I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some
adjustments,' Morales said. 'I'm always working on it. If they are getting
you out certain ways, you've got to make changes.'

single.  Austin Jackson stepped up next and he cleared the fences for a
two-run home run resulting in a mighty exciting win for Oakland and the

Oakland did all of it's offensive work in the 6th inning plating 3 runs on 2
hits.  After an out was recorded, Aramis Ramirez got things going when he
doubled.  Josh Willingham next to the plate and he drew a walk.  Justin
Maxwell then doubled, and an error was also committed.  Houston threatened in
the 9th but their rally came up short.
