Left fielder Nelson Cruz slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Henderson
Alvarez completed the game without help from the bullpen at Minute Maid Park
where the Toronto ballclub beat the Seattle Mariners by the score of 7 to
1.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Cruz.  He blasted a solo shot in the 3rd inning and cleared the
fences for a two-run home run in the 7th inning.  Toronto managed 13 hits in
their victory.  

Alvarez(2-0) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Felix
Hernandez(1-2) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed 3 homeruns in 5 innings of

Jeff Samardzija tossed a shutout and Kirk Nieuwenhuis cracked a homer and had
2 RBI at Minute Maid Park as the Seattle Mariners beat the Toronto club 4 to
0.

Samardzija(2-0) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for
the Toronto batters.  He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 6 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings improving his ERA from 2.92 to 1.69.  Seattle banged out 13
hits on the afternoon.  

Hisashi Iwakuma(0-1) was tagged with the loss.  He surrendered 4 runs and 9
hits in 7 and 1/3 innings.

Felix Hernandez carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning and Albert Pujols
jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI at Rogers Centre where the
Seattle Mariners beat the Toronto ballclub by the score of 4 to
0.

Hernandez(2-2) was virtually untouchable.  He was stingy on the mound,
allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings improving his ERA from 3.63 to
2.59.  The right-handed Hernandez lost a no-hitter when Adrian Beltre singled
with nobody out in the 7th inning.  Seattle managed 11 hits in their victory.

Chris Archer(0-1) was tagged with the loss.  He surrendered 7 hits and 1 walk
in 5 and 2/3 innings.  'Hernandez pitched a gem of a game', Steve Fidler
recounted.  'He kept our batters off balance the entire game.'

Catcher Michael McKenry had 4 hits as the Toronto team defeated the Seattle
Mariners in 13 innings by a score of 6 to 5 at Minute Maid Park.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings.  Toronto was victorious
in the 13th inning.  Cliff Pennington drew a walk.  Brayan Pena next to the
plate and he laced a one-base hit.  Pena took second on the throw.  Carlos
Gomez was the next batter, but he struck out.  Ian Kinsler followed and he
ripped a base-hit resulting in an exciting win for Toronto and a raucous
post-game celebration by the home town fans.  Toronto finished with 16 hits
while Seattle ended up with 13.  

Dan Otero(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Cory
Rasmus(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings
giving up 2 hits and 1 walk.

Albert Pujols had 2 base hits and Felix Hernandez tossed a fine 3 hitter at
Minute Maid Park as the Seattle Mariners beat the Toronto team 2 to 1.

The game was decided in the 8th inning.  After an out was recorded, Jose Reyes
reached on an error.  One out later, Ryan Braun stepped in and he drew a
walk.  Pujols then lined a single scoring the run.  Pujols took second on the
throw.  The game was a scoreless duel until the 7th inning.  

Hernandez(3-2) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Garrett
Richards(1-1) absorbed the loss.  He surrendered 5 hits and 2 walks in 7 and
2/3 innings.
