First baseman Carlos Santana had 2 base hits as the St. Louis Cardinals
defeated the Anaheim Angels 6 to 4 at Chase Field.
St. Louis jumped on top of Anaheim in the bottom of the 2nd inning plating one
baserunner on 3 hits. After two outs Juan Lagares delivered a single.
Dioner Navarro stepped up to the plate and he ripped a base-knock. Alcides
Escobar then doubled scoring the run. Anaheim proved to be no trouble in the
9th.
Jacob Degrom(1-0) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Degrom
got help from Wade Davis who earned his 1st save. Dallas Keuchel(0-1) was
charged with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and 3 walks in 4
innings.
'I struggled a bit out there tonight,' Degrom said, 'but I toughed it out and
we got the win.'

Francisco Liriano tossed a complete game as the St. Louis Cardinals clobbered
the outmatched Anaheim Angels, 11 to 1.
Kyle Schwarber made sure the St. Louis fans enjoyed themselves. He smacked a
single knocking in a run in the 1st inning and lost the ball over the fence
for three runs in the 4th inning. St. Louis managed 10 hits in their
victory.
The victory went to Liriano(1-0) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Jered
Weaver(0-1) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 4 runs in 3 innings.
