Zack Greinke went the distance at Chase Field where the San Francisco Giants
beat the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 3 to 1.

San Francisco scored 2 runs in the decisive 3rd inning with the help of 3
hits.  That early run support was all that Greinke(4-1) required.  San
Francisco banged out 8 hits on the night.  

Jacob Degrom(3-1) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 6 hits and 3 walks in 7

topped the St. Louis Cardinals by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

Zach Britton(1-0) was called upon to do the job and he was the winning
pitcher.  He allowed 1 hit and 1 walk in 1 inning.  Craig Kimbrel relieved
and was untouched by St. Louis as he recorded the save, his 3rd.  

Sam Dyson(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 1
hit without retiring a batter.

St. Louis fell behind quickly as the San Francisco offense came through in the
first inning as they scored 3 runs on 2 base hits.  San Francisco rapped out
10 hits for the night.  

Jake Peavy(2-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 3
runs. Jaime Garcia(1-1) took the loss.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings giving
up 5 hits and 3 walks.

Zack Greinke(5-1) and Danny Salazar(1-1) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with
Greinke and the San Francisco Giants coming out on top of the St. Louis
Cardinals 3 to 0.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning San Francisco went on top for good plating one
baserunner.  Nick Hundley drew a walk.  Brian Dozier came next and he
doubled.  Chris Coghlan then would ground out scoring the run.  That early
scoring held up.  San Francisco managed 7 hits in their victory.  

Greinke got relief help from Craig Kimbrel who gained credit for his 4th save.
