Baseballs were flying all over the ballpark as the Seattle Mariners ran
roughshod over the seemingly hapless Oakland A's.  The Seattle offense rolled
up a total of 14 runs!.

Oakland never recovered after Seattle took the lead in the 2nd inning when
they tallied 5 runs on 5 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by
Elvis Andrus who excited the crowd when he ripped a single bringing home two
baserunners.  Oakland was out-hit by Seattle, 13 hits to 5.  

The win was credited to Justin Verlander(3-1) who went 7 and 2/3 innings
allowing 6 runs. The losing pitcher was Jake Arrieta(1-2).  He allowed
Seattle 5 runs in 2 innings of work.

Carlos Carrasco went 7 strong innings as the Oakland A's bested the Seattle
Mariners in 10 innings 4 to 2 at Rogers Centre.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  Finally, Oakland pulled the
game out in the 10th inning.  Jonathan Schoop got things going when he
delivered a base-hit.  After an out was recorded, Eddie Rosario stepped in
and he smacked a single which scored a run.  Rosario took second on the
throw.  After another out, Russell Martin then lined a one-base hit scoring
the final run of the inning.  Oakland had 11 hits overall, while Seattle had
5.  

The victory was credited to Blake Treinen(1-0) who went 2/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. Seung Hwan Oh preserved the game for Treinen, recording his
his 4th save.  Alex Colome(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief.

relief help from Alex Colome who was excellent in relief and gained credit

2/3 innings.  Lester was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well,
I felt pretty confident in my pitches tonight.  But, I had great support
behind me and I just threw what was called.  That was an extremely well
called game!'

Centre.

Seattle took the lead off Rick Porcello in the first inning when they came up
with 3 runs on 1 hit.  That was all Justin Verlander(5-1) needed.  Seattle
had only 6 hits for the game.  

Porcello(2-2) was tagged with the loss.  By surrending 6 runs in 4 and 1/3
innings his ERA jumped from 5.32 to 6.43.
