Manny Machado blasted 2 homeruns and 5 RBI as the Chicago White Sox smashed
the overmatched St. Louis Cardinals, 16 to 5.
Machado was in a groove all evening. The St. Louis fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box. He belted a three-run homer in the 3rd inning
and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 6th inning.
Chicago provided plenty of action in the 1st inning which saw them score 6
runs on 5 hits and the 3rd inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits. Chicago
had 15 hits for the game and St. Louis had 12.
Sonny Gray(1-1) allowed 4 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Dylan Bundy(1-1) was the loser. He surrendered 6 runs in 1/3 of an
inning and saw his ERA increase from 2.25 to 8.64.
