Left fielder Juan Soto knocked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Washington
Nationals bested the St. Louis Cardinals in 16 innings 7 to 6 at Citizens
Bank Park.

Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings. Washington ended up
winning it in the 16th inning. Javier Baez got things going when he ripped a
solo home run. After an out was recorded, J.D. Martinez stepped up to the
plate and he drew a walk. Soto then cracked a two-run shot giving Washington
the victory and sending the 26,722 home-town fans home happy. A wild and
woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.

The winning pitcher was Ryan Yarbrough(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 1 inning.
Joe Jimenez(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He was unable to retire a
batter giving up 1 hit and 1 walk.
