Burnes(1-0) was virtually untouchable. He allowed just 4 hits and no walks in
8 innings. Kansas City made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to
push the needed runs across.
Blake Treinen recorded his 1st save. The loss was charged to Max
Scherzer(0-1). Steve Fidler was asked about the performance of Burnes, 'He
had his good stuff out there tonight. The fans really get into it when the
strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.'

dramatically to top the Kansas City Royals by the score of 7 to 6.
Chicago came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
with 2 runs on 2 hits. Travis Jankowski led off and he drew a walk. Willson
Contreras followed, but he was set down on strikes. Ben Gamel then doubled
scoring a single run. After another out, Isiah Kiner-Falefa stepped up to
the plate and he banged out a one-base hit scoring the final run of the
inning. Drew Steckenrider(1-0) got help from Blake Treinen who pitched a
perfect ninth and was credited with his 2nd save.
Kenley Jansen(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 2 hits
in 2/3 of an inning. Steve Fidler was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a
game out in your last at bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how
quiet it got out there? You could have heard a pin drop when we took the
lead. But, hey, that's what makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi
Berra says, 'it's not over 'til its over.'

Corbin Burnes reeled off a total of 15 strikeouts as the Chicago White Sox
defeated the Kansas City Royals by a score of 3 to 0 at Yankee
Stadium.
Burnes(2-0) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Kansas City offense.
He didn't allow much, just 2 hits and 1 walk in 8 and 2/3 innings dropping
his ERA from 1.13 to 0.54. Neither team managed to score after the 4th
inning.
Burnes got help from Blake Treinen who was credited with his 3rd save. Max
Scherzer(0-2) took the loss. 'Everything felt great' Burnes said. 'I had a
good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.'
