Travis Blackley(1-0) thrilled the fans at US Cellular Field as he crafted a no-hit masterpiece against the lifeless Chicago White Sox. The Houston Astros won by a final score of 7 to 0. Blackley had overwhelming stuff tonight. He simply never gave the Chicago batters a decent pitch to drive. He had excellent control, walking only one. The tension built to a fever pitch. After the 8th inning everybody in the ballpark was anticipating what would happen in the 9th. Houston had 13 hits for the night. Chris Sale(6-7) was tagged with the loss. He allowed Houston 7 runs in 6 innings of work. When asked how his stuff was out there, Blackley looked a bit incredulous (as did this reporter) and replied 'A bit better than average, I'd have to say' |
