History was made in New York as Ian Kennedy(5-9) tossed a no-hitter and the
St. Louis Cardinals defeated the New York Yankees by the score of 8 to
0.

Although disappointed to see the hometown team lose, the fans certainly were
appropriately impressed with the dominating, no-hit performance of Kennedy.
He walked 5 New York batters. The tension started to build around the 6th
inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified. St. Louis managed 10
hits in their victory.

Roberto Hernandez(5-9) suffered the loss. Kennedy was in a jubilant mood
after the game. 'If I'd known I was going to throw a no hitter I would have
gotten a haircut!' he said, much to the delight of the clubhouse gathering.
