Corbin Burnes(7-7) pitched a rare no-hitter as the dominant Chicago White Sox toppled the St. Louis Cardinals 5 to 0. Burnes had his best stuff and was 'painting the black' with every pitch. A beautiful game to watch. He walked 4 St. Louis batters. The tension built to a fever pitch. After the 8th inning everybody in the ballpark was anticipating what would happen in the 9th. Burnes whiffed an impressive total of 12 St. Louis batters. The pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again. Dane Dunning(2-2) took the loss. 'Burnes made us look bad' John Helmbrecht said. 'I've seen a lot of good performances in my time and this one will be tucked away in my memory bank for a long time to come' |
